Episode
Finally back after a long hiatus, we deliver on our long-promised tribute to Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., whose passing in April will long be felt in the American literary world. Vonnegut's writing career got off to a relatively late start; however, from the early 1960's until his passing, his works were among the most widely read of any living author. Slaughterhouse-Five became a fixture on college campuses across the US, and Vonnegut's unique style, which evolved from one as descriptive as Fitzgerald, would become easily recognizable and as influential to our current generation of authors as that of Hemingway and Twain. Also featured is an in-depth feature about the student loan scandal, including a timeline of its development, and an analysis discussing the meaning of our reactions to its development.
Musical selections come from Allison Crowe's 2004 album Secrets. Crowe's music is beautifully written and sung, and best described as eclectic. We feature a few full-length tracks from Secrets for your enjoyment, and encourage you to purchase her music. We also have a reading from Christopher Salerno, of his poem, "The End of Winter." For more information about Crowe's music or Salerno's poetry, we encourage you to visit our Contributors page.

Objectivity continued ... Bias, and more
In this episode, we return to the ideas of bias and objectivity that we discussed in our most recent episode. We address public perceptions of bias in the media and point out one of the worst media offenders in the bias lie. We relive the month of April in the 1970s in our Time Capsule session; and once again, we feature two readings by poet Thomas David Lisk from These Beautiful Limits, his new volume, available from Parlor Press [Parlor Press], "World's Religions" and "Oregon Trail." If you can't get enough of Dr. Lisk's work, visit his blog, Oilcloth and Linoleum at http://www.oilclothlinoleum.blogspot.com. Our musical selections come from Rob Costlow [Website], a solo pianist whose music will take you away. Mr. Costlow has a style of his own, precise and passionate at the same time. We encourage you to visit his site to learn more at http://www.robcostlow.com.

The myth of bias and objectivity in the American mind.
In this episode, "No Bias, No Objectivity," we will discuss the ideas of bias and objectivity that seem to dominate discussions about the media in our current environment. We'll go in-depth about point of view in communication. We are proud to introduce a new feature entitled "Time Capsule, a decade of a month in a moment," featuring the month of March in the 1990s. Our musical recommendation will consist of clips from the Italian jazz group Michiboux, an ambient, soft jazz band with an outstanding saxophonist. We will also include two readings by poet Tom Lisk from These Beautiful Limits, his new volume.

A new entry has just been posted to the BlogCast. The post discusses the recent discovery that the God Squad is now spreading the gospel through the popular console game Halo. Among other interesting questions, it asks, "what better way to impart the bloody and violent legacy of Christianity-as-practiced as opposed to Christianity-as-Christlike-behavior?"
